…just in case you forgot #WakeUp #GoodMorning
If you read the report from “Operation Ghetto Storm” it’s actually a black PERSON not a black MAN that is killed every 28 hours. That means that black women (and non gender binary folks) are also included in that statistic. Can we please stop pretending like black women’s bodies especially aren’t also criminalized and that they aren’t also subject to vigilante antiblack violence. The Renisha McBride case literally just ended and the media is still criminalizing her body.
Okay so, hello everyone Hanari here with a dumb announcement.
It seems as though in the past several days my life has gone down a spiral of ‘no’ and I’m at a point where I actually need help because I don’t think I’ll be able to bounce back from it any time soon.
Long story short, I lost my wallet recently along with my credit card and my paycard, which had about 80 dollars on it. I ordered a new card which said it’s going to be here in ‘ten business days’, which was two days ago. This wouldn’t be such a big deal normally but I was just recently informed that the emergency fund I had set aside just in case something like this were to happen, which I was using as a savings fund for NYCC, which I have been saving up for since December last year, which was just over 300 dollars in savings, is no longer there.
Normally I would not be this upset over the apparent loss of 400 dollars, because I can work to get that money back.
But you see, I can’t work right now. My wrist got damaged very badly due to repetitive motions at my job and I’m recovering from Carpal Tunnel, so my hours have been cut and I cannot make up that 400 dollar loss before my new pay card arrives, and I don’t know when my wrist will heal so I don’t know when I can get back to working my regular schedule.
The schedule they have me on now is barely enough to pay my bills every week. barely.
So I’m asking for help. Just a little help from anyone who wants to help me until I can get back on my feet and this whole thing can be resolved. I won’t ask for much, just however much anyone is willing to help me with since I don’t know when I’ll be able to get back to working at a schedule that sustains me.
I would very much appreciate if you also signal boosted this. I love all of you guys and I hope you root for me as I try to get through this.
my favorite thing in stories is when the antagonist doesn’t die, but instead they realize they were being kind of a stupid dick (maybe because the protagonist saved them or something) and then they have to kind of awkwardly tag along with the heroes in order to make up for their mistakes and gradually become slightly less evil
Within the last two months, Eric Garner, 43, unarmed, was killed on July 17 by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo who placed him in an illegal chokehold while questioning him for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes; John Crawford, 22, unarmed, was shot and killed on August 5 by two Ohio police officers, David Darkow and Sean Williams, in Walmart after he was spotted holding a toy rifle; 18-year-old Mike Brown, unarmed, was gunned down by Ferguson, Missouri police officer Darren Wilson while walking with a friend in his neighborhood; and Ezell Ford, 24, who was also unarmed, was shot and killed by unnamed officers in the LAPD on August 12.
In the wake of these tragic events and renewed intense conversations surrounding police brutality against Black men, a video of police in Boynton Beach, Florida threatening to “put a round” through four Black men during a routine traffic stop has emerged and begun making the rounds on social media.
One of the occupants in the video records the interaction, even after the officer tells him to stop, to which he responds:
No, I have rights. I’m not intimidated. I have rights.
Sir, I’m recording your ass. What the f*ck you going to do?
B**ch, you’re on camera. What the f*cks wrong with you. Stupid ass cracker.
The driver of the car repeatedly asks the officer who stopped them for his badge number. The officer provides his name, but not the number, prompting the driver to attempt to take a picture of his badge. The officer slaps the phone out of his hand, pulls him from the car and places him face down on the ground.
That’s when another officer, presumably his partner or back-up rushes to the window, gun drawn, and says:
“I’ll put a round in your ass so quick,” with his weapon threw the window pointed directly at the men.

Midnight thoughts (what made you so sad)
- 19 days late but Hillary Clinton finally comments on Ferguson and she didn’t victim blame or use false racial equivalences. She called out social injustices and the frayed relationships between police and community members. She even addressed white privilege and institutional racism. Good commentary but poor timing and lack of genuine feeling. Clinton’s statement (x)
- 900,000 signatures calling for justice
- 5 protesters sue police for $41.5M over arrests
- Audio of the murder of Michael Brown aired by CNN has been authenticated.
